Man At Work runs at Sandown today

Today we have three runners at three different meeting spread across the country.  Make Me A Believer runs closest to home at Exeter with Fergus Gillard on board, Man At Work runs at Sandown with Tom Scu in the saddle and Jet Smart runs furthest away at Sedgefield with Philip Armson riding.  Make Me A Believer is returning from an absence of 685 days off the track and he runs in the 2.35pm handicap chase.  He is making his debut over fences but has schooled well at home.  He has only had four runs in his life, falling when running well in an Irish point to point on his first start and then winning a bumper on stable debut at Chepstow in October 2019.  He finished second to Bear Ghylls on hurdling debut before winning at Cheltenham over hurdles in December 2020.  He then finished a very close third in the Grade 2 novices hurdle at Warwick and so his hurdle form is very good.  Unfortunately he picked up an injury after this and so it is just fantastic to get him back on the track.  He has always looked a chaser in the making, he is a lovely big horse and fingers crossed he comes back safe and well after today and we have something to build on.  He is a very exciting horse and it will be interesting to see how he gets on this afternoon.

Man At Work runs in the 2.20pm Grade 2 novices hurdle at Sandown.  It is a small but select field and the Racing Post have us at 3/1, third in the betting.  He is a lovely four year old you made a terrific start to his rules career winning at Aintree last month on debut.  He has come out of that race really well and although this looks a tough race on paper we are very fond of our chap and expect him to run well.  Whatever the outcome today, he is a lovely exciting horse for the future.

Jet Smart has travelled to Sedgefield for what looks like and ideal winning opportunity, he runs in the 2.10pm novices hurdle over 2m4f.  He ran a nice race to finish fifth in a much stronger contest at Ascot last time on stable debut and although this may have come a little quick he has come out of that race really well.  He is a lovely four year old you who will appreciate going up in distance this afternoon.  He is likely to be quite a short price but hopefully he can win today.  The yard is going to have a very busy and hopefully very good half an hour of action with all of our horses running in a very short space of time!  Finger crossed they can all run well.

Alongside the three jumps meetings today, there is also flat action on the all-weather at Newcastle and they race on the flat in Ireland at Dundalk.

In the football World Cup it is the final round of group matches today with the round of 16 starting tomorrow.  South Korea kick off against Portugal at 3pm and hopefully I will be home and not be too tired to watch Cameroon against Brazil at 7pm!

I got into a fight with 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9.  The odds were against me!  Happy Friday!
