Thanksforthehelp Our 74th Winner!

We have reached the final day of the 2022/23 National Hunt season and all eyes will be on Sandown this afternoon.  We have two runners at the Esher track in the Bet365 chase, D’jango and Red Happy line up in the 18 runner strong field.  Both run from out of the weights and are big prices but both horses have had great seasons winning multiple times and doing us all proud.  Sean Houlihan rides D’jango and David Noonan is on board Red Happy.  Thankfully the ground is better on the jumps course than the flat course as Sandown were forced to abandoned their flat fixture yesterday because of false ground but there are no problems ahead of today.  Scottish National heroes Jack Tudor and Kitty’s Light are in action once again and head the betting for this afternoons feature.  Providing this race does not come too soon after Ayr last week I think they will again take all the beating.  We know he loves the track and he won’t mind the ground and he stays all day.

Thanksforthehelp put in a nice performance to win at Southwell last night under Jack Tudor. Dropped back to novice company after running at the festival last month where he put in a good performance. On ratings he should have won but they still have to go an do it! The plan is to keep him in training for now, so he could be out again soon.

This afternoon Paul Nicholls will be declared Champion trainer for the 14th time, while Brian Hughes will be Champion jockey again having ridden 164 winners (at the time of writing), 40 more than his nearest rival Sean Bowen.  Luca Morgan is Champion conditional jockey with 46 winners while our very own Philip Armson had a very good season and finished up with 28 winners.  JP McManus is once again crowned leading owner.  Tom Scu is on his way to Sandown and I believe he might be being given a little send off as well.

Sandown is the only jumps fixture today but there is plenty of flat action going on as well.  They race on the level at Haydock, Leicester, Ripon, Doncaster and Wolverhampton in Britain while in Ireland they have the final day of the Punchestown Festival.  The feature race is the Champion four year old hurdle at 5.00pm.  Triumph hurdle winner Lossiemouth is the short priced favourite and if he repeats his Cheltenham run where he was mightily impressive, I can’t see him getting beaten this afternoon.

There are just the three Premier league football matches this afternoon with more fixtures actually taking place on Sunday this weekend.  My nan’s team Wolves are away to Brighton, while Brentford play Nottingham Forrest and the 12.30pm kick off is Crystal Palace at home to West Ham.

I hate it when people don’t know the difference between your and you’re.  There so stupid.  Have a good day!
