Sunday Musings

There are no runners for the stable today but there is plenty of racing action to keep us entertained.  There is jumping at Stratford which gets underway at 2.05pm, while they race on the flat at Ripon.  In Ireland they have a flat fixture at Naas while in France there is some very good jumps action at Auteuil.  The Grade 1 Grand Steeple Chase De Paris is at 3.05pm our time and it looks a cracking contest and there are plenty of horses and jockeys you will recognise in the line up.  Willie Mullins has two runners in the race, Franco De Port and Carefully Selected and Paul Townend and Danny Mullins are in the saddle.  Rachel Blackmore rides in the race for David Cottin while 2022 Grand National winner Noble Yeats lines up with Sean Bowen in the saddle.  It is an 18 runner field and the French look to have a very strong home team to try to keep the prize in France.  They also have two other Grade 1 races on the card, one over fences and one over hurdles.

 There are three Premiership football matches this afternoon, kicking off at three different times.  The 1.30pm match is West Ham against Leeds, Brighton versus Southampton follow at 2pm and the 4pm kick off is Manchester City against Chelsea.  

Today I am heading to the point to point at Bratton Down on Exmoor.  There was great racing action there last Sunday and although the ground will be a bit quicker this afternoon there still should be a nice few runners and competitive racing.  I know Martin McIntyre has a few rides and I will report back how they get on tomorrow.  

I would like to go to Holland some day.  Wooden shoe? Have a good Sunday.
