Nibras Gold runs at Ffos Las Today

Today we have three runners at Ffos Las, Gwencily Berbas, Nibras Gold and Walk Of The Roses and they are all ridden by Jack Tudor. Gwencily Berbas runs in the staying handicap chase at 3.20pm over 3m3f. He is a thorough stayer who won the Devon national last season and ran better than the bear result suggests last time in a competitive race at Cheltenham. Our twelve year old has been a great servant throughout his career and he is nearing a well earned retirement. It would be fantastic if he could win today and finish on a high. There are seven runners and he is about 100/30 second best in the betting and I think he has a good chance.

Nibras Good runs in the two mile handicap hurdle at 3.50pm. He returns from a winter break in good form and having undergone a wind operation. He is a winner on the flat and won a novice hurdle at Worcester last summer. He was slightly disappointing on his final start before his break but he returns to action in good form at home and he will like the track and the ground. I would hope there is scope for improvement off his rating of 109 and at about 6/1 I don’t think he will be far away.

Walk of the Roses makes her racecourse debut in the concluding bumper on the card at 4.50pm. Her dam was unraced but she is half sister to fairly useful hurdler Thirsty Work. She does everything quite nicely at home with a likeable attitude and if she handles the big day okay I think she will run well. She is about 7/2 third best in the betting and whatever she does today I am sure she will learn a lot for the future.

As well as jumping at Ffos Las there is also jump racing at Market Rasen this evening. On the flat today they race at Redcar, Carlisle and Windsor and in Ireland they race on the flat at Roscommon.

Manchester City beat Chelsea 1-0 yesterday and were crowned Premiership Champions. Leeds lost 3-1 to West Ham and are all but relegated. Newcastle are at home to Leicester this evening in a must win match for the visitors who also are looking very likely to go down the Championship barring a miracle.

Brooks Koepka won the USPGA Golf Championship at -9 and he is certainly back to his best and having a great summer.
