Dindin Runs at Ffos Las Today!

Today we have three runners at Ffos Las, Dindin, Abaya Du Mathan and Platinumcard and one runner on the flat at Salisbury.  We were due to have a fourth runner, Moonlit Warrior but he is now a non-runner.  Dindin runs in the 6.25pm handicap chase over 2m3f with Philip Armson on board.  He has been very consistent in recent runs and the ground went against him at Taunton last time when some late heavy rainfall softened the ground too much for him.  He still finished third but will prefer the return to a quick surface this evening.  He will also like the track and I think it is his ideal distance.  He is about second best in the betting and I am sure he will run his usual honest races.

Abaya Du Mathan runs in the following handicap chase at 6.55pm with Jack Tudor on board.  He loves the course and is a winner twice already around Ffos Las.  He drops back in trip to 2 miles this evening but I don’t think that will inconvenience him and I expect another bold show.  He is favourite in the betting and he is in great form at home and I am sure he will give our Racing Club members something to shout about.

Platinumcard runs in the 2m4f handicap hurdle at 7.55pm and Jack Tudor rides.  He has only had two starts for the yard and has not shown much but he ran better than the bare forms suggests at Exeter last time.  He will enjoy the track and ground and even though he is the outsider of the field I think he will outrun his odds.  He is a high level flat performer in the past and if he can show just a glimmer of that form he should be in the shake-up.

Bashful Boy travels to Salisbury this evening to run in the concluding 1m6f handicap on the card with Rob Hornby riding.  He was on board when he won at Lingfield on his penultimate start and Jamie Spencer rode him when he finished second after this.  We were disappointed to be beaten this day but it turns out we were beaten by a very good one!  She has won her two starts since and now has a rating of 91 so trying to give her nearly a stone that day was basically an impossible task!  He has unfortunately fallen on his last two starts over hurdles which is very uncharacteristic of him and so we thought we would give him a confidence boosting run back on the flat today.  He seems in good form at home and is about second best in the betting at 4/1 so hopefully he won’t be far away come finish.

So today’s racing action is made up of two jumps meetings, at Cartmel and Ffos Las and five flat meetings at Haydock, Goodwood, York, Chester and Salisbury.  In Ireland they have a big flat meeting at the Curragh which features the Irish 2000 Guineas at 3.40pm.  The Paul and Oliver Cole trained, Jamie Spencer ridden Royal Scotsman heads the betting but I have been impressed with the Ballydoyle horse, Paddington and he would be my selection with Ryan Moore on board.

Last night at Worcester, D'jango's race was delcared void after it had to be stopped mid-race due to an injured horse.  The runners were brought to a holt as they turned into the home straight for the final time and Philip Armson thought D'jango would have kept going for a place at the time.  Free Chakarte was pretty keen in first time blinkers and ran much better for a long way and at least finished the race this time to be fifth.

There is no Premiership football action today as we wait for the big season finale tomorrow afternoon with all the games kicking off at 4.30pm.  While the league winners are Manchester City things are pretty close and tense in the relegations battle at the bottom so there will be many nervous fans ahead of those matches!  There is however the Championship play-off match between Luton Town and Coventry.  It is a big day for both clubs as the winner will be playing in the Premiership next season.

I got arrested today for walking out of an art museum with a painting.  I am just a little confused because earlier when I asked the security if I could take a picture they said yes!  Have a good day!
