I thought the stable's runners performed creditably on the flat at Newbury yesterday afternoon, particularly Togiak who finished fourth, beaten only 6 lengths behind comeback horse Dubai Prince. The Godolphin owned winner was making a successful reappearance after recovering from a fracture in the pelvic region - he won in good style and stretched his unbeaten run to three. Winning jockey Kieren Fallon was clearly very impressed and claimed "he has the most beautiful action, I think a mile and a quarter will be his trip". If Fallon says that, he is obviously a bit special.
We have another runner on the flat at Newmarket this afternoon, Big Occasion in the Cesarewitch Trial. He makes his debut for us under Jim Crowley and he was a decent performer in Ireland - he is one of three that we have left in the Cesarewitch on October 8th, the others being Beyond and Tasheba.

I thought that Dominic Fox gave an amusing interview after winning on his comeback mount at Strctly Silver at Ayr yesterday. He said, "I promised Alan I'd do a Frankie dismount if I won but I changed my mind as I felt a bit wobbly in the legs!" It just goes to show what a physical job being a jockey is - you can do as much riding out and fitness work as you like, but there is no substitute for race riding.

I think I will have a little interest in this weekend's football - the ones that appeal to me at the prices are: Bolton to beat Norwich at 5/6, Tottenham to beat Liverpool at 9/5 and Wolves to beat QPR at evens...a nice little treble that should pay for the weekend!

I am off to a fancy dress party tonight with a Chinese theme...I just hope that I don't get it wrong! I only have one fancy dress outfit and that is a Superman costume so clearly that is not really appropriate. My wife has been planning her outfit for days...why is it that women always seem to get so excited about this type of event?!
