It will be interesting to see the new whip guidelines from the BHA that will be published later this morning.  Some of the content has already been talked about on the television and radio including the tougher sanctions handed out to jockeys found to be guilty of whip offences.  While use of the whip has not been banned, apparently the number of times that jockeys can hit their mounts has been reduced.  Jockeys who receive bans of more than three days will lose their percentage of prize money, while repeat offenders could have their licences reviewed.  Will it make a blind bit of difference if a couple of jockeys are involved in a tight finish to one of the major races?  I guess only time will tell...

I understand that for the remainder of the week we are in for a bit of an Indian summer - you wouldn't have thought it during first lot as it certainly feels a little chilly!  Anyway I have a couple more nice pictures from the gallops of hurdle and chase winner Painter Man and Southerness as they completed their exercise.

It was nice to see former stable lad Terry Vosper in the limelight at Ffos Las yesterday when Choose The Moment landed the six furlongs maiden.  He says that he kept fit by doing a paper round - I used to have a round myself...it was only one road, but it was the M1!

I see that it is sports presenter John Inverdale's 54th birthday - the Racing Post says that he was the co-owner of Make A Stand...at least he was when he won a Leicester claimer.  Martin or myself then claimed him (who actually claimed him is an ongoing dispute that I don't think will ever be resolved!) - MCP offered John his share back but John turned him down.  I don't suppose he thought for one minute that the little chestnut would go on to win a Champion Hurdle!
