It was a good weekend for the yard with a double at Fontwell on Saturday with Arab League and Vertige Dore.  I thought that Timmy Murphy produced an incredible ride when winning aboard Vertige Dore in the beginners chase.  The horse had been a little unlucky in previous starts and this was just reward for his efforts - sadly Timmy didn't get his just reward and was handed down an eight day ban by the stewards.  I firmly believe that if Timmy hadn't used his stick then the horse would not have won - as I have already mentioned, there are sure to be some different results when the new regulations come in.

Arab League had earlier initiated the double by landing the 2m4f novices' hurdle in game fashion under Tom Scudamore.  He had been touched off in a very close finish at Plumpton on his hurdling debut and appreciating the step-up in trip duly went one better in a thrilling finish.  This was a fair performance and looks another nice recruit for long-standing patron Stuart Mercer.

I bet there are a few trainers out there who would like the deal that Mick Channon offered Sheena West.  He gave her winning hurdler Alfraamsey on a sale or return basis - the horse duly scored in good style at Huntingdon yesterday...are there any other flat trainers out there who would like to do a similar deal?!

I hope that a few of you took heed of my advice and had a go at my football treble at the weekend.  I have enjoyed a great run of form so far this season and Southampton, Fulham and Chelsea all obliged to keep that my good run going...roll on next Saturday!

I see that former England manager Steve Mclaren has resigned from his roll as Nottingham Forest manager after just four months.  I recall saying not too long ago that I wouldn't be buying a property around there if I were the manager - the team seems to have too many fundamental problems to sort out anytime soon.  Even so, you would have reasonably expected some improvement but the team have looked terrible this season - you have to wonder how some of these football managers get a job.
