Pottsie At Uttoxeter!

Today we have one runner at Uttoxeter (providing the meeting goes ahead!), Sizing Pottsie. He runs in the 2.10pm handicap hurdle over 2m3f.  He made a pleasing seasonal reappearance at the track to be a close second but then was a little disappointing at Wincanton last time.  He will love the testing conditions today and he steps up in trip a little and Gearoid Harney rides taking off seven pounds again.  There are only six runners but it looks a competitive looking race although I think we have a good chance.  Bear Ghylls has some good form in the book but has been a little out of sorts of late but has had wind surgery so if this has had a positive effect then he looks the one the beat. We are about 9/2 in the betting and hopefully he won’t be too far away.

There is also jumps racing today at Warwick and like Uttoxeter, it is an all hurdle card after the chases were abandoned earlier in the week.  There is an all-weather fixture at Wolverhampton in in Ireland they have jumping at Punchestown.  Conditions will be testing for the jumpers but hopefully all the meetings will go ahead.

There are just two Premiership football matches this afternoon and both games kick off at 2pm, we have Fulham v Arsenal and Spurs at home to Bournemouth. There is a more local derby closer to home for us as Taunton Town play Yeovil Town in the National League South at 3pm. 

On Friday I enjoyed watching the rugby match between Bristol Bears and Exeter Chiefs and it was a good performance and a great win for the Chiefs away at Ashton Gate.

We have reached the final day of 2023 and I hope you all have a great New Year’s Eve however you may be spending it.  I am joining a few friends for a meal although I am not sure we will see the New Year in!! Thank you all for reading this year and wishing you all a very happy and healthy 2024!
