Only The Bold runs at Lingfield Today

All being well, both jumps meetings go ahead at both Fakenham and Lingfield today and we have a runner at each!  I do however write this in advance for a Sunday and both track were inspecting on Saturday afternoon with the possibility of inspecting again on Sunday morning so anything may have happened!  While the inspections were due to frost the weather has now moved on and we have strong winds and rain brought about by Storm Isha – if it is not one thing it is another!

Hammer Dan makes his handicap hurdle debut in the 2.00pm race at Fakenham over three miles and Jack Tudor rides.  It is fair to say our six year hold has been disappointing under rules this far but this race represents his best chance of running well from a handicap rating of 75.  He has finished second in an Irish point to point and tackles three mile for the first time under rules this afternoon.  We have had a few little niggles with him at home and he is definitely better than the form he has shown so far so fingers crossed he can show us more today.  He is a big price and the Ludy Wadham trained runners looks the one they all have to beat but hopefully he has a strong each way chance.

Only The Bold runs at Lingfield in the Surrey National at 3.35pm and David Noonan rides.  His season has not really gone to plan unfortunately but hopefully he can take a step back in the right direction this afternoon.  He is the outsider of the field but with a change of luck he has the form to run well in this at a big price.  A heart murmur was the reason he pulled up at Uttoxeter on his penultimate start and this was thoroughly checked and monitored and he is perfectly fine now.  He ran okay to a point in the Welsh National last time in very testing conditions but his sights are lowered here so hopefully he can get back on track.  He is a horse we like a lot at home so it would be nice to see him run well.

It is a good card at Lingfield this afternoon and they also have some good jumps action in Ireland at Thurles.  There is one all-weather meeting at Chelmsford.

Hopefully I am racing at Chipley Park point to point this afternoon, just outside Wellington.  It however had to pass a Saturday afternoon inspection so fingers crossed that will be on as well.  They have lots of entries from all over the country so it should be good competitive racing.  I will report back tomorrow if there are any local successes for our jockeys.

There are two Premier League football matches this afternoon.  This first game at 2pm is Sheffield United against West Ham and the 4.30pm kick off is Bournemouth at home to Liverpool.

Rory McIloy had a great Saturday of golf in the Dubai Classic yesterday!  He started the day ten shots behind the leader Cam Young but posted a round of -9 to finished the day tied in second place just one shot behind the leader!  Never discount this man – I am a fan!  I think he may now go onto win the title for the fourth time today.

Whoever said “out of sight, out of mind”, never had a spider disappear in the bedroom!!  Have a lovely Sunday!
