There is just the one jumps meeting today up at Carlisle where the ground is heavy, but the stable does not have any runners. There are two all Weather meetings at Wolverhampton and Lingfield and there is no action in Ireland today.

I’m not sure what the weather was like where you were this weekend, but it was very wet at pond house from late Saturday afternoon through the evening. They had a lot of rain at Southwell, which meant they actually called a 9am inspection but racing went ahead. Ya Know Yaseff did not really enjoy the testing conditions, she travelled nicely for a long way but found jumping out of the ground hard work. One little mistake down the back the far side put her on the back foot and it was game over from there. Royal Mer did enjoy conditions and jumped and travelled well. He came there to challenge the leader approaching the last, but unfortunately that rival pulled out a bit more, our five-year-old kept on well for second and I’m sure he can be winning again soon.

On Saturday, the ground at ascot had dried out and was not to our advantage. Phantomofthepoints found it all a bit lively and while he didn’t run badly he was perhaps a little disappointing. He is better than that and returned to softer going and maybe going left-handed will see him in a better light.

There were lots of runners and races at the Badbury rings point to point yesterday, and while no winners for the local riders, Will Biddick and James King lead the way, riding most winners on the day between them!

Have you bought your tickets for the Cheltenham Festival yet? Gold Cup day tickets for the Friday are about to sell out imminently apparently but sales on the other days are a bit down on previous years. We have our marquee as usual on every day of the Festival. We are sold out on the Tuesday but do have a few spaces left of the other days so get in touch with the office if you would like to join us!

In the football over the weekend, there was another emphatic win for Liverpool while Chelsea held Manchester City to 1-1 draw at the emirates. I watched most of the Manchester United and Luton game and after United made a blistering start Luton played well and Man United were a little lucky to hold on for a 2-1 win. Brighton were easy winners at Sheffield United, the final score being 5-0 to the visitors.

Tonight there is one Premier League match, Everton play Crystal Palace 8 pm kick-off.

The England cricketers were very disappointing in their test match against India after a promising start. The match did not even make it to its final day with England all out for 122 in their second innings and India win the match by 434 runs.

I love my job. Lately colleagues have been writing names on foods in the fridge.

I’m currently eating a yoghurt called Susan. How cute!!

Happy Monday!
