Hopefully today we have one runner at Lingfield, Moodofthemoment.  I say hopefully because the track does have to pass an 8am inspection after rain yesterday and further rain predicted overnight brought about some concerns.  Moodofthemoment runs in the 4.15pm novices handicap chase over 2m7f and Jack Tudor rides.  There are seven runners and we are about 11/2 in the betting.  He ran his best race for a while last time at Leicester to finish third where he stayed on strongly on the run in over 2m4f and so should enjoy the extra distance today.  The main issue is as to whether he can back up that performance with another good run, something he has struggled to do as yet.  He definitely has always gone better at home than his form figures read and we have tweaked a few things at home with his training which hopefully was the reason for his improved run last time.  He seems in good form at home and he will enjoy the testing conditions, so fingers crossed he can put his best foot forward and be involved in the finish today.

Hopefully Lingfield passes it’s inspection as if it doesn’t it means it is a blank day for jumps racing in Britain after Huntingdon was already abandoned for today earlier this week.  Whatever happens over here, they are due to race of jumps at Thurles in Ireland and there are two all-weather meetings here at Chelmsford and Newcastle.  There is some doubt to much jumps racing happening on Friday as Warwick must pass an inspection this afternoon for racing to go ahead tomorrow.  They had some rain yesterday and were raceable on Wednesday but with another 5-15mm to come today prospects do not look that good.  Exeter are a little more positive about their meeting for Friday going ahead although more rain now forecast than originally predicted does mean they have a little worry in the back of their minds.  Newcastle are pretty confident of racing on Saturday where they have the feature Eider chase.  We do have Sidi Ismael in that race, but he is set to run at Exeter tomorrow in the Devon National but with some doubt about racing we may well declare him for Newcastle in case Exeter was called off.

Last night in the football Liverpool 4-1 Luton. Liverpool moved four points clear at the top of the Premier League, after coming from behind to beat Luton at Anfield. Tonight there is more European football action with the second legs of the Europa league knockout games.  There are no British teams in action but there are some close games from the first leg which should bring about some good action this evening.

I ran out of food and had to steal from next door’s herb garden.

I’m living on borrowed thyme!

Have a good day!
