Behind The Curtain runs at Exeter!
All being well there are no anticipated problems with racing at Exeter today and we have two runners at the family day meeting, Worldwide Fury and Behind the Curtain.  Worldwide Fury runs in the opening contest on the card, a maiden hurdle over 2m5f and Jack Tudor rides.  He is making his hurdling debut after running in a bumper last time at Wetherby.  I think that wasn’t a bad contest and we ran a little green, so he would have come on from that outing.  He is an Irish point to point winner so will appreciate stepping up in distance today and won’t mind underfoot conditions either.  There are only five runners and we are about 5/1 third best in the betting.  He jumps well and should run well.

Behind the Curtain runs in the second race of the day, the 2m7f handicap hurdle and amateur Martin McIntyre rides.  He was on board last time when the pair sprung a 50/1 surprise win at Wincanton, so David wanted to keep ‘Fly’ as we know him in the saddle.  It was a bit of shock win last time, but he should not have been that big a price in the first place.  He does have some decent form in the book, albeit quite a long time ago.  He had always gone well at home but just hadn’t had much luck on the racecourse up until that point in two runs for us.  The handicapper put him up four pounds for that win but he was only re-assed on Tuesday meaning he was still eligible for this race at entry stage.  It is a 0-105 and he is now rated 109.  He has top weight to carry but ‘Fly’ takes a handy seven pounds off.  He won’t mind the step up in trip or ground conditions and even though this race is a little stronger than last time, I think he has a good chance.  He is about 6/1 third best in the betting.  He has come out of that run very well and we all know what confidence can do for horses so fingers crossed!  There are a lot of members of our Racing Club going today, so there is sure to be a good cheer if he is involved in the finish!

Carlisle must pass a morning inspection for jumps racing to go ahead today, so hopefully there will be two jumps meetings.  There is flat racing at Bath and in Ireland there is a good flat card at Leopardstown and hopefully jumps racing at Downpatrick which must pass a morning check.  The going at Bath is heavy, it is not very often you get the ground conditions here!

Unfortunately there is no local point to point action today with it all being abandoned due to waterlogging.  Racing does go ahead at Kingston Blount which is a little firther afield in Oxfordshire.

There are three Premiership football matches today with slightly different kick off times to a normal Sunday so watch out for that!  Manchester United must try and bounce back from their dramatic defeat at Stamford Bridge in their match against Liverpool.  There aren’t many worse teams you want to have to a face after a match like that than Liverpool but fingers crossed they can play like they did in the FA Cup match against them!  Sheffield United play Chelsea at 5.30pm while Spurs play Nottingham Forest at 6pm.

It is the Japanese Grand Prix today and Max Verstappen is on pole position.

I met an Apple Software developer who didn’t have the greatest social skills.

But he did make iContact!

Have a lovely Sunday!
