It is another quiet day for the stable, as we have no runners today. There is jumps racing at Market Rasen and plenty of flat action on today at Lingfield and Wolverhampton with afternoon cards and an evening card at Kempton. In Ireland, there is flat racing scheduled at Leopardstown, although that will have to pass a 7:30am inspection this morning.
The Aintree festival gets underway tomorrow and the team in Liverpool are anticipating the ground to change as we have further rainfall. It’s currently down as Soft, Heavy in places and there is the possibility of the Mildmay course turning heavy all round. I think they are hoping for a little drier conditions towards Thursday, Friday and Saturday with a potential of showers forecast on Wednesday and potential odd showers throughout the next few days. The National course has now been called Heavy, Soft in places and could turn into being a real test with the ground.
Aintree isn’t the only course to be having their work cut out with the weather as Newton Abbott were forced to abandon their second meeting 8 days in advance. They originally called off their opener meeting on the 30th March due to the track being waterlogged and have had to do the same for their second meeting and they are now hoping to be able to meet their next target on 8th May. The weather has really played it's part for a lot of these meetings and the rain must be coming to end soon surely!
Not just the jockey’s championship is competitive, as the trainer’s title looks even more exciting. Dan Skelton and Paul Nicholls will be hoping to have a dominating Aintree team to help them get a clear run towards Sandown for the finale. There is currently around £20,000 between the two, so it is certainly going to be a stiff competition until the end and plenty of top pot prizes still left to be won.
Last night in the football saw 2 Champion League matches in the Quarter Finals. Arsenal 2-2 Bayern Munich and Real Madrid 3-3 Manchester City. Tonight in the Football, there are two more quarter final matches which kick off at 8pm. Atletico Madrid Vs. Borussia Dortmund and Paris Saint Germain Vs. Barcelona.
Did you hear what happened to the wooden car? It wooden go!
Have a lovely Wednesday!
