Yesterday we had two runners at our local track Taunton. Skin Full didn't quite have the pace over this trip and should be better over further in time. Rebel Angel, Jack came back and thought she struggled on the ground, getting through it and got a bit stuck in the mud.
Today we head to Southwell for their evening card on the flat and we have Kintaro in the 7:00pm Handicap over 1m3f at Southwell and Oisin Orr rides. John Egan rode our four year old last time and said these are the exact conditions he needs, so fingers crossed for a good run!! He is yet to win in nine lifetime starts but hopefully he can show more in first time blinkers tonight. The jockey rode him twice previously when trained by Richard Fahey and got on well with him. The handicapper has given him some help and he runs in the lowest grade race he has encountered so far. He is a big price in the betting, but hopefully he can give us an each way shout.
Other than the flat card at Southwell, there is day 2 of the Aintree festival and a jumps card at Fakenham also. In Ireland, there is a flat card at Dundalk. Leicester and Sedgefield were scheduled for today but unfortunately have been abandoned.
Day 1 at Aintree and I was glad to see Nicky Henderson get off the mark with Sir Gino, a massive weight off his shoulders heading towards the rest of the festival. He was an impressive winner and there is a possibility that he and Constitution Hill could bump into each other next season, as they plan to stick hurdling. The going for the National course has changed to Soft, Heavy in places as they had a dry spell overnight in Liverpool and the Mildmay course has been called just Soft now. It is meant to stay dry throughout today's card - so fingers crossed it does!
Last night in the football there were 4 Quarter Final matches in the Europa League. Bayer 04 Leverkusen 2-0 West Ham United. Benfica 2-1 Marseille. Liverpool 0-3 Atalanta. AC Milan 0-1 Roma. Tonight there is one Championship match Plymouth Argyle Vs. Leicester City who kick off at 8pm.
The Masters opening round was delayed due to thunderstorms and 40-45mph winds. Not ideal as the tee shots were then delayed 2 ½ hours. But after the first day eventually kicked off, Bryson DeChambeau leads by one From Scottie Scheffler. I think the forecast is due to be dry for next few days over there so hopefully they will be able to continue without any further disruptions!
Why do pancakes always win at cricket?
Because they have the best batter!
Happy Friday!
