Today there is just the one jumps meeting up at Kelso, but the stable does not have any runners. Summer must be coming with the return of flat racing to Windsor on a Monday, there is also action on the turf on the flat at Redcar and on the all-weather at Kempton.

We didn’t have much luck in running at Chepstow on Saturday with King Turgeon. He was going very nicely at the head of the fairs, admittedly with long way to go but he was jumping and travelling well when wiped out by two loose horses. They came across him just as he was jumping the fence and totally wiped him out! Thankfully the horse is absolutely fine from this misfortune.. The loose horses then continue to play havoc with the rest of the field and they did a huge part in the result of this race. Lady Balko ran another solid race off of her rating today carrying top weight to be second. I thought she had won at the second last and even though she kept galloping, she was overtaken. It was a career effort and she has had a wonderful season and been an admirably consistent mare. Mr. Tambourine man did not put his best foot forward at Plumpton yesterday, but ground conditions were fairly quick and he didn’t seem to enjoy them. We made Shot Boii a non-runner because of the ground.

We had a great day at Cotley point to point, with Castle Daragh finishing second in the restricted and moodofthemoment winning the novice riders race. Castle Daragh does all his best work at the end of the race and Lukke Morris gave him a lovely ride. Hopefully his winning team will come soon. Moodofthemoment really enjoyed himself and gave young Conal Kavanagh his first ever winner. Very well done to Conal, I am sure it is the first of many.

I thought the Grand National was a joy to watch on Saturday, so many horses had a chance at two out and with no fatalities it was great for racing and the race itself. Well done to Paul Townend, Wille Mullins and JP McManus and of course I am Maximus! this certainly makes the trainers championships very interesting for the last few weeks!

Yesterday was not a very good day for Arsenal or Liverpool in the Premier League title race with both teams losing. Manchester City won on Saturday and now sit pretty on the top of the table. There are only two points between them all still, so it is all to play for! There is one premiership game this evening, Chelsea play Everton at 8pm.

The Masters was really competitive and exciting last night. World number one Scottie Scheffler won it for a second time after a commanding performance at Augusta National and it showed exactly why he was the red hot favourite! Sweden's Ludvig Aberg finished runner up in his major debut.

My friend lost his car…

I call him Carlos!

Happy Monday!
