Sunday Jottings

Punchestown is all done and dusted for another year and today there is no jumps racing scheduled. That being said there is plenty of action on the flat to watch with action at Newmarket, Hamilton and Salisbury. In Ireland, they have flat action at Sligo.

The 1,000 guineas takes place at Newmarket this afternoon and 16 are set to challenge. See The Fire for the Andrew Balding team has seemed to have taken a lot of interest to some, her pedigree shows good potential and I think if it happens to be a strongly run race it would suit her better, as she has a lot of staying power to go with her speed and she’s always run well at Newmarket. That being said, she has bumped into Ylang Ylang before on her last time out and recorded a respectable third but I do think if the race goes her way, she could be in with every chance.
It is a busy weekend for point to point action also and while they races at Flete Park yesterday, I shall be heading to South Hill today which is just outside Dulverton.  It is a very picturesque course on Exmoor and so I recommend a visit should you not have been before.  Tomorrow they race at Vauterhill and I shall let you know if any of our jockeys have any winners.
