The weekend is here and the sunshine is still here (for now!) There is plenty of racing action on today to watch, the stable have no runners representing. The flat cards are spread out across Lingfield, Ascot, Nottingham and Leicester while the jumps cards are at Hexham and Warwick both scheduled this evening. There is also a combination of flat/jumps at Haydock’s mixed meeting today, their unique card hosts the Swinton Hurdle due off at 3:15pm. In Ireland, they race over jumps in Cork and on the flat in Naas.

It’s trials day at Lingfield and they host the Listed Derby Trial Stakes at 3:00pm and the Listed Oaks Trials Fillies’ Stakes at 2:25pm.

Yesterday, Chester hosted their last day of their May Festival, the Chester Cup was the main race of the day, and the race went the way of Michael Owen's Manor House Stables with Zoffee winning. The Hugo Palmer trained eight year old, came so close to victory last year but was just caught on the line by Metier. But having been 3lb lower this time and having the ground to suit he went one better this year. It was a special win for jockey Harry Davies, he is only 19 and I'm sure there will be plenty more for him!

Trainer Jane Williams has been forced to shut her yard due to the rapeseed oil crops in the neighbouring farm. The yard has had a few poor performances recently and she thinks this could be the cause of it all. It can cause respiratory problems and get irritant for the horses. Jane is due to have her first runners back on the 1st June but she will be monitoring the situation closely and hopefully reopen as normal then.

Tonight in the football, there are 8 matches in the Premier League to watch. Fulham vs. Man City who kick off at 12:30pm, Bournemouth vs. Brentford, Everton vs. Sheff United, Newcastle vs. Brighton, Tottenham vs. Burnley, West Ham vs. Luton, Wolves vs. Crystal Palace all set to kick off at 3:00pm and Nottingham Forest vs. Chelsea who are the later match at 5:30pm kick off.

In the golf, Rory McIlroy remains in contention and kept up his pursuit of a fourth Wells Fargo Championship with another fine round in Charlotte.

What did one ocean say to the other ocean?

Nothing, it just waved!

Happy Saturday!
