Yesterday afternoon we had one runner representing the stable at Salisbury on the Flat, Ocean Heights ran well for a long way and Jockey Finley Marsh thought the ground was plenty soft enough for him but it was a good run. Hopefully the handicapper can drop him a couple of pounds and I'm sure there can be plenty more fun to have with him this summer!
The stable has no runners today. But there is plenty of flat cards scheduled today and they are at York who host their last day of the Dante Festival, Newbury, Newmarket and Hamilton. For the jumps, they head to an evening meeting at Aintree, which kicks off at 5:45pm. In Ireland, they have flat action this evening at Leopardstown where the Group 3 Saval Beg Levmoss Stakes is the feature at 7:05pm and afternoon jumping action at Kilbeggan.
York are finishing up the Dante Festival today and Ballydoyle maestro Aidan O’Brien could attempt to win the Group 2 Boodles Yorkshire Cup which is to take place at 3:45pm. Tower Of London is the early favourite for the feature on the final day.
The Lucinda Russell team have decided to retire their superstar Corach Rambler. He ran in this years national and his run was cut short after unseating at the first and never seemed to enjoy his recent outing at Punchestown. The 10 year old has been a horse of a lifetime for connections, he is a winner of 7 of his 18 starts and won more than £750,000 in prize money. I think the plan for him now is to stay at Lucinda's yard and have a happy life being Peter Scu's hack! He's the second big name to have retired this week as the Willie Mullins team also announced that Sharjah has been retired at the age of 11.
Last night in the football Leeds 4-0 Norwich. Leeds will now play Southampton or West Bromwich in the Championship play-off final after a thumping win over Norwich. Tonight in the football, the English Football League action continues with Southampton vs. West Bromwich, which kicks off at 8pm.
I tried to win a sun tanning competition...
But all I got was bronze!
Happy Friday!
