Lukke and Moodofthemoment after their win!
It's the start of a new week and we did have quite a busy weekend. On Saturday we had two runners at Uttoxeter's evening meet, Fighter Allen and Kauto Kawai. Fighter Allen, he had one jump across him with a circuit to go and I think he lost heart after that. He definitely has ability, but we haven't quite found the key to him just yet! Kauto Kawai was our second runner of the evening and it didn't help with having the hurdles taken out, but he didn't really keep going as well as we had hoped.

We had one runner at Bratton Down point to point yesterday, Moodofthemoment, which gave young Lukke Morris his second win of his career! The horse has made it 3 wins from 3 starts in his pointing career and he won well and Lukke gave the horse a good ride.

Today we have one runner at Newton Abbot, Bashful Boy who runs in the 3:13pm Handicap Hurdle over 2miles 2 1/2f with Jack Tudor riding. He's had a winter break and returns today, it looks a tough race but I'm sure he will improve from the run and this is a good starting point. This will be Newton Abbots first fixture as the last two have previously been called off to waterlogging, so I think they'll be glad after a long wait to be going ahead!

Other than Newton Abbot today there is three flat meetings on in Britain. These come from Redcar, Windsor and Carlisle. In Ireland, there is flat action at Roscommon.

The fight between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk took the main headlines of the stories over the weekend and after a gruelling 12 rounds, Tyson Fury lost his WBC title and his perfect record to Usyk in Saudi Arabia and Usyk became the first undisputed heavyweight champion in the four-belt era after a split decision. I did manage to watch some of the match and I do feel like Fury was playing the showman role a few times in the ring and I do think Usyk was maybe a little too quick for him at times. There are rumours that they will be due to rematch in October.

In the football over the weekend there was plenty of football action that kicked off but I think the most stand out game of them all was of course Liverpool. It was manager Jurgen Klopp's final game and he will be delighted to have finished on a victory with Liverpool winning 2-0 to Wolverhampton, which gave him his 299th victory in 491 games overall.
