Yesterday Bashful Boy ran at Newton Abbot in the third race of the card and Jack Tudor was on board. He looked a bit rusty on his return from a break and he was not actually beaten that far in the end, but I am sure he will be much sharper next time out.
Today we have no runners for the stable but there is jumps racing at Huntingdon and Hexham today. While the flat is scheduled at Nottingham and Brighton. In Ireland, they race over jumps at Punchestown and on the flat at Cork.
The BHA have announced that Sunday evening racing will not implemented in Britain following a trial period this year after receiving some negative feedback form participants and the overall betting turnover not meeting expectations. Despite receiving additional payments for taking part in the trial, there were concerns raised about the working life balance. They have mentioned it could be tested again in the future but for now, it is to be put on hold. I personally don't think we need the late Sunday evening fixtures and stretching the industry anymore than it needs to be.
Yesterday on the flat the Graham Lee Racing Club had their first runner yesterday, We've Got This. The filly ran at Redcar and gave an excellent debut to finish 2nd, for the racing club. The club itself was set up for Graham Lee and his family to help raise money for the injured jockey who had a horrible fall last November, leaving the rider paralysed from the neck down. The horse was named 'We've Got This' which is a popular phrase used by Graham's wife Becky. The racing club itself is only £17 to join and it's great to see the racing community pull together.
Why aren't Koalas considered bears?
They don't have the right koala-fications!
Happy Tuesday!
