Behind The Curtain wins at Hereford!
Yesterday we had a busy day with three runners at Hereford’s evening meeting. Kintaro made his hurdling debut last night and he jumped well enough and ran with promise, hopefully he can improve from this moving forward. Behind The Curtain did go one better last night and got his head in front for the racing club, he virtually made all for the race and kept on strongly in the finish. Only Fools unfortunately couldn't make it a double on the night for the racing club, but she ran a much better race than last time out and it was good to see her back in good form and run a solid race.
Today we have no runners but there is jumps action at Cartmel for their bank holiday meeting and plenty of flat fixtures, which are at Haydock, Goodwood, York, Chester, Salisbury and Windsor. In Ireland, they race on the flat at the Curragh.
A chance for Classic glory is up for grabs as a field of 8 3Y-O’s take part in the Irish 2,000 Guineas at the Curragh. The race is set to be off at 3:40pm. Notable Speech the winner of the Newmarket Guineas will not be making the trip over to Ireland, but the form could be defended by Rosallion and Haatem who finished second and third for trainer Richard Hannon.
Flat jockey Silvestre de Sousa has fronted a fundraising campaign for Jockey Club Rio Grande de Sol after the horrendous floods in southern Brazil. The stable staff were able to safely evacuate the horses from the facility, but essential supplies like feed has unfortunately been lost. Many of those working in the industry have unfortunately lost their homes and all their belongings. I think this is another opportunity for the racing community far and wide to come together again and help those in need.
Today the football is back and the English FA Cup. Kicking off at 3:00pm is Man City vs. Man United at Wembley Stadium with one team looking to create more history.
Two guys walk into a bar..
The third one ducks!
Happy Saturday!
