There are no runners for the stable today with just the one jumps meeting at Fakenham this afternoon. There are two flat meetings at Nottingham and Hamilton while in Ireland they have a meeting under each code where they race on the flat at Listowel and over jumps at Kilbeggan. In France they have a very good flat card at Chantilly with a lot of our top jockeys in action for British and Irish trainers.
This afternoon is final meeting of the point to point season at Bratton Down with then just the season finale proper at Umberleigh next weekend. British point to pointing at a difficult time of things back in the winter with lots of meetings abandoned due to bad weather and being waterlogged but it seems to be finishing strongly with lots of runners in the final few weeks of the season. They have good entries for this afternoon's fixture so I am sure there will be some great action and I shall let you know if any of our jockeys have any success.
Well done to Hannah Smullen, daughter of the late Pat Smullen who rode her first winner at Tramore on Friday evening. There were emotional scenes after she won the ladies bumper aboard the Godon Elliott trained Fillusin. The 21 year old law student was having just her seventh ride and it was almost eight years to the day since her father won the Derby on Harzand,
With football now taking a back seat until the Euros cricket takes centre stage with the Mens T20 World Cup getting underway. The United States play Canada while the West Indies take on Papua New Guinea starting at 3.30pm our time. England begin their campaign on Monday. A little closer to home, there are plenty of Vitality Blast matches taking place today. Somerset are away to Surrey this evening at 6pm.
I'm still tired from yesterday's tired.
Today isn't looking so good, and I've already already used up tomorrow's tired!
Happy Sunday!
