Royal Ascot Begins!

Yesterday we had just the one runner at Carlisle Manuelito, where he made the switch back to the flat after a successful spell over hurdles winning twice. He got a little hampered 2 furlongs out but he ran well all things considered and maybe didn't quite travel as much as we'd hoped for and the leader had made a good gap by the end in front, but he ran on well to the line and finished 2nd. 

Ocean Heights was due to be our only runner today at Stratford, but unfortunately he's not quite right so we will wait for another day with him.

Today is the first day of the Royal Ascot Meeting and there are meetings on the flat at Catterick, Beverley and Brighton. Stratford holds the only jumps meeting of the day.

There is three group ones at the Royal meeting today, The Queen Anne Stakes at 2:30pm is a perfect way to kick off and features a strong French challenge this season. Ascot have been watering both the straight and round courses after a drying day and the ground is set to be good to firm, good in places for the first day. They will look to monitor the situation as there is threat for thunderstorms on Thursday.

In the 5:05pm Ascot Stakes, Ryan Moore and Willie Mullins team up to look to gain a fourth Ascot Stakes win, it's now six years since Willie Mullins has won this race and he'll hope to close the gap with My Lyka who is second in the betting at 6/1 currently. 

Yesterday in the Euro’s Austria 0-1 France, Romania 3-0 Ukraine and Belgium 0-1 Slovakia. Tonight there are two matches from Group F, which are Turkey vs. Georgia, set to kick off at 5pm, and Portugal vs. Czech Republic set to kick off at 8pm.
