We have reached Day 3 of Royal Ascot, Ladies day and the feature race on a star-studded card is the Ascot Gold Cup at 4.25pm.  Kyprios is favourite for the Aidan O’Brien team and he won the race two years ago but did not take part last year.  He has won both his starts so far this season and he is my tentative pick for the race.

It was another super day of action yesterday and tricky to find the winners but Auguste Rodin won his sixth Group 1 race of his career by winning the St James Palace Stakes.  Oisin Murphy and Ryan Moore had a doubles and it is already looking like the leading jockey for the week is likely to be one of these to.  Auguste Rodin was Aidan O'Brien's 400th Group 1 winner around the globe, with the most coming from Britain and it is a phenomenal achievement.

At Worcester, Kintaro ran a lovely race to be a respectable second to the short priced favourite.  He built on his third last time out at Bangor, again jumping well and staying on nicely at the finish.  He seems to be enjoying his jumping and he looks a winner in waiting.  Only Fools got hampered mid-way down the back straight in her race, losing her position and not being able to recover.  This was a shame, but Jack looked after her when he chance of winning was gone and there will be other days for her.

It is a busy day on the racing front with plenty of meetings alongside the feature of Royal Ascot but the stable does not have any runners.  They race on the flat at Ripon, Chelmsford, Wolverhampton and Lingfield and while there is no jumping today, in Ireland they have flat action at Leopardstown.

Last night in the football, Germany are through to the knock out stages of the Euros after beating Hungary 2-0, Croatia drew with Albania 2-2 and Scotland's hope of progressing are still alive after drawing with Switzerland 1-1.  Today there are three matches in the Euros in Germany and England are in action against Denmark, 5.00pm kick-off.  Slovenia play Serbia, the other Group C game at 2pm while Spain play Italy at 8pm and that promises to be a good match.

England were in T20 World Cup cricket action during the night against the West Indies and were impressive in victory.  They won by 8 wickets and are through to the super 8s stage.

At the office BBQ I grilled some rare steak for our boss and he said “I like it well done”.

I said “Thanks, it means a lot!”

Have a great day!
