The sun is shining and today there is no jumps card with plenty of flat action being shown at Ascot, Newcastle, York, Chester, Lingfield and Salisbury. In Ireland, they race on the flat also at Gowran Park. The stable have no runners today.
Yesterday we had a busy afternoon with three runners at Uttoxeter. Bashful Boy was our first runner of the afternoon and he was in a nice position throughout and was travelling well, but when things quickened up he just couldn't quite go with them, he has plenty of character and he is pretty versatile and could run on the flat again.
Back In The Bay was our next runner of the day. She didn't quite run the same as she did on her stable debut, but that was only her fourth ever run and she will be suited by hurdles and a longer trip in future. The racing break comes up shortly and that will give some of the horses a bit of a break and a freshen up for when racing resumes in a few weeks.
Chemical Warfare ran another solid race, just losing out to finish second. He took to the further distance well coming from the back of field and jumped with more confidence and looks to have plenty of nice days in him.
Flat jockey Hayley Turner has reached a huge milestone in her career with reaching 1,000 winners in Britain. She had recently achieved her 1,000 global career winners landmark in November.
The racing community also came together in support of one of their own at Thirsk yesterday with the staging of the charity race for Graham Lee, who sustained life changing injuries in a fall at Newcastle last year. It was a race with a bit of a twist as the stable staff and professional jockeys swapped roles. John Greeves, from John and Sean Quinn's stable was first past the post and in some style too aboard his mount Eco Power Boy.
Did you hear about the fire at the circus?
It was in tents!
Have a lovely weekend!
