Steppenwolf runs today!
It was a Saturday full of flat cards, with no jumps racing yesterday. Today, Uttoxeter have the sole jumps card with the only flat card in Pontefract. In Ireland, they have no racing today.
We head back to Uttoxeter with two runners. Steppenwolf runs in the 2:25pm Handicap Chase over 2miles 4f with Jack Tudor riding. He finished fifth last time out at Bangor and it was a real competitive race and a much stiffer task. Although this race has plenty of runners, it does look a bit more open.
We then have Granny Smith in the 3:55pm the first division of the Maiden Hurdle over 2miles 4f with Jack Tudor riding. She has ran better than her finishing positions suggests previously, she does jump well at home she will be suited by hurdles and a longer trip.
The jump-racing break begins after today and it allows the summer horses to have a bit of a break and freshen up ready for when racing continues on 17th August at Perth and Market Rasen. It also allows the jockeys to spend some quality time with family, some for which that opportunity is rare and we all need some time to recharge our batteries occasionally!
The Olympics had their opening ceremony on Friday in Paris and there will be plenty to watch of it over the next few weeks. With events like Archery, Canoe Slalom, Fencing, Judo and many others taking place today.
Why is basketball the messiest Olympic sport?
Because the players dribble all over the court!
Happy Sunday!
