The jumps racing break has begun with no jumps racing now until mid/end of August, but the action on the flat continues with meetings today at Southwell, Ayr, Windsor and Wolverhampton. In Ireland, there is some jumps action as it's the first day of the Galway festival with their mixed card.
On Sunday we took two runners to Uttoxeter. Steppenwolf found things happening all too quickly in his race, but he stayed galloping all the way to the line, so he may want further in time. Granny Smith seemed to have found the ground a little too quick, but it was still a little bit of a disappointing run. With no jumps racing for a while we are quiet on the runners side, with the possibility of a couple of flat runners over the coming weeks. But it gives the horses and jockeys chance to recharge their batteries back for mid/end of August when racing returns in full swing.
Over the weekend they had the Jump Jockeys Nunthorpe Handicap at York and Charlie Todd came out on top on Night On Earth for Ian Williams, it was a close call as he only won by a neck from second placed horse Soul Seeker with Michael Nolan riding. It's always good fun watching the Jump Jockeys have a spin on the flat!
Over the weekend the Olympics was offering plenty of action. Adam Peaty won the Silver in the 100m breaststroke final, narrowly missing out on Gold to the Italy's Nicolo Martinenghi. Great Britain is currently on 2 Silver medals and 2 Bronze medals.
Why was the Olympian not able to listen to music?
Because he broke the record!
Happy Monday!
