Today there is racing at Redcar, Sandown, Leicester and Glorious Goodwood continues with the second day. In Ireland, the action at Galway also continues.
We head to Leicester with one runner today, Rebel Angel runs in the 7:35pm Handicap over 1mile 4f with Ethan Jones in the saddle. She returns to this distance after staying on well over a shorter trip at Chepstow last time and just missing the placings. Ethan Jones takes five pounds off which is also handy so hopefully, she will not be too far away.
Sussex Stakes ante-post favourite Rosallion has been withdraw from the Group 1 race due to a respiratory infection, trainer Richard Hannon Jnr has mentioned he’s just not himself at home and while this is annoying, he will have many of good days ahead of him I’m sure and the horse must always come first in these situations.
Another blow for racing yesterday as one of Willie Mullin’s stable stars Facile Vega died after fracturing a bone in his pelvis. He kicked a wall with his hind legs and fractured a bone high up in his pelvis, things like this are such freak accidents and no matter how much we do to try to prevent these things, sometimes these things happen. He was a super talented horse and on his day he could do things other horses couldn’t and it's a real shame that we never got to see his full potential.
In the Olympics yesterday, Team GB won two more Gold medals. The swimming quartet of James Guy, Tom Dean, Matt Richards and Duncan Scott retained their men's 4x200m freestyle title which added to Nathan Hales' men's shooting trap final Gold earlier in the day. In the tennis, Andy Murray and Dan Evans reach the men's doubles quarter-finals and plenty more opportunities for GB to add to their medals with the women's Triathlon taking place now.
Why couldn't the bike finish the race?
Because it was two-tired!
Happy Wednesday!
