Today there is flat racing at Pontefract, Brighton, Kempton and Yarmouth. In Ireland, they race over both codes with the jumping at Wexford and the flat action at Sligo.

Brighton have their traditional three-day summer meeting and the Brighton Mile at 3:55pm may not have had the prestige it once had, but it could be contested this year by plenty of previous course and distance winners. There are 9 runners in total.

In Paris, Team GB could not quite add to their five equestrian medals as Germany’s Christian Kukuk, won gold in the individual jumping final. Harry Charles withdrew prior to the event because his horse was not fit enough to compete.

In the women’s 10m platform final Andrea Spendolini-Sirieix come away with sixth place. She is only 19 and I am sure, with some more experience, the result will be much different for her in the future.

Josh Kerr ran well in a thrilling men’s 1500m final last night.  All the talk beforehand had been about the rivalry between him and the Norwegian runner Jakob Ingebritsen but after he set a strongly run race it was the American, Cole Hocker who finished strongest inside the final 100m.  This was a rather shock result but Josh set a new National record time and has to be very proud of his achievements.

My new alarm clock shouts insults instead of buzzing or plating music.
I'm in for a rude awakening!

Have a great day!
