Quiet Thursday

With no jumping until the weekend, there is afternoon flat action at Beverley, Chepstow and Salisbury. While Windsor and Chelmsford hold evening meetings. In Ireland, they have a mixed evening card at Tramore and a flat card on the all-weather at Dundalk.

Yesterday afternoon Aidan O’Brien saddled a runner at Salisbury and missed out on reaching the £5 million mark for prize money in Britain this season as The Parthenon finished third of three runners. It was later noted that O'Brien's runner had also lost a front shoe during the race. Andrew Balding's runner New Century took victory and whilst closing the gap in the trainers title, Balding admitted he is unlikely to stop the championship leader of a seventh trainers title in Britain.

Newmarket trainer Stuart Williams landed his 1,000 winner at Windsor on Monday 30 years after recording his first. His winner Bonaventure won the closing mile handicap with Sean Levey in the saddle.

Last season's champion apprentice Billy Loughnane reached a century of winners for the second year in a row when winning of Brasil Power at Kempton last night. He's an extremely talented young jockey with a huge future ahead of him.
