Oceanline Winner at Worcester
It was great to have our 12th winner of the jumps season yesterday thanks to Oceanline winning the lucky last. Jack Tudor gave him a great front running ride on his first run over hurdles since last October. He had been running well on the flat this summer and enjoyed his switch back to obstacles and jumped well throughout. He quickened up from turning from home and despite his nearest rival edging closer on the long run in he was always just doing enough and Jack thought he was always just doing enough. This was just his second win over hurdles but he has an engine and is still well handicapped in relation to his flat ability so hopefully there is more to come. He loves the quicker ground and I am sure we will continue to mix both codes to keep him mentally happy as much as anything as well.
Nibras Gold ran okay for a long way on his return to the larger obstacles but was probably a bit below his best. He really does need some help from the handicapper as well. His last winning mark was 109 and he was running off 122 yesterday. Both horses are fine this morning which is the main thing and hopefully we can get them back out again fairly soon.
There is no jumps racing today but there are four meetings on the flat at Kempton, Brighton, Nottingham and Wolverhampton. The stable does not have any runners. In Ireland they have one flat meeting at Roscommon.
I wrote the other day that it was sad the great Australian mare, Black Caviar was put to sleep on humane ground recently after giving birth to her latest foal. I was sad to read last night that now unfortunately her Snitzel foal has now passed away also.
Leicester got a well deserved point from a 1-1 draw at home to Spurs last night on their return to the Premiership. Spurs were the dominant team in the first half and probably should have put the game out of the reach of the Foxes but they stuck to their task well and it was none other than captain marvellous, 37 years old Jamie Vardy who scored the equaliser. There are Champions League play off matches this evening but no British teams are in action.
I think my phone is broken.
I pressed the home button and I am still at work!
Have a good day!
