There are three flat meetings today at Goodwood, Beverley and Yarmouth but no jumps racing. In Ireland, they race on the flat at Naas while they have another good flat meeting in France at Deauville.
It is a Premier Race day at Goodwood and the first four races are all live on ITV. They also have a selling race on the card at 4.10pm over 1m3f for three and four year olds. It is a race we have bought out on in the past but I am not sure there will be anything we are interested in this afternoon. There are only six runners; the winner will go up for auction while the rest of the field are eligible to be claimed for £20,000. It should be an interesting race.
There is also opportunity to find new horses at the upcoming Thoroughbid Online Auction this week. Online sales seem to have grown in popularity in recent times and there are some nice horses on offer in the catalogue. The sale starts from 9am on Thursday and there are horses on offer from Willie Mullins and Gordon Elliott. The Thoroughbid auctions are a relatively new outfit that have done well in finding their only little niche against the big powerhouses of Goffs and Tattersalls. They offer a risk free consignment for vendors, meaning there are no fees to pay unless your horse sells. This does make things more attractive for the seller as you probably think why not take a chance. At conventional sales, you have to pay an entry fee, which could be anything up to £500 and then there is the cost of getting to themselves etc. As with all things in life, it is good to have competition and different options for seller and buyers. If you would like to find out more information about this sale or any other coming up please just get in touch, This email address is being protected from spambots. There are three Premiership football matches today, with Bournemouth against Newcastle and Wolves against Chelsea both kicking off at 2pm. Liverpool are at home to Brentford at 4.30pm.
Me: “I am surprised at how winded I am by this exercise”.
Personal Trainer: “This was the tour of the gym!”
Happy Sunday.
