There is no jumps racing in Britain today but there are five meetings on the flat at Southwell, Bath, Lingfield, Kempton and Hamilton. In Ireland there is a jumps meeting at Kilbeggan. The stable does not have any runners.
Ben Lilly ran okay at Goodwood yesterday without troubling the principles. Rossa Ryan felt the ground was plenty soft enough for him and with some help from the handicapper; he can be winning on the level. This was his first run since January and hopefully this will put him spot on for his next outing over hurdles.
Many congratulations to Hollie Doyle who rode her 1,000th winner at Goodwood yesterday. Leyhaimur won the 6F race giving her a double on the day and in doing so giving her her landmark success. She is only 27 years of age and has no plans of slowing down at all! She has ridden 39 Group and Listed winners in Britain and has ambitions of being Champion jockey one day and I wouldn’t bet against her doing it.
Another jockey celebrating good news yesterday, albeit of a different kind, was Callum Shepherd who won his appeal against his 18-day ban for failing to ride out his horse to the line at Kempton. I did think it seemed rather harsh so was not surprised to see this one overturned.
Last night I watched a bit of the Vitality Blast cricket quarter final between Surrey and Durham. Surrey are the first team through to finals day while tonight the Sussex Sharks are at home to Lancashire Lightening at 7pm to see who can book there place on finals day.
