After a slight spell of no jumps racing, there is some jumping action at Bangor-On-Dee today. While on the flat, there's plenty of action covered across Ascot, Haydock and some all-weather action at Kempton. In Ireland, they return to the jumping also with a meeting at Kilbeggan and flat action at Down Royal. A quiet day for us as the stable have no runners today.
Haydock have a strong card on today with the £40,000 fillies' Novice Stakes at 2:35pm and 7 horses take to the challenge with over half of the purse up for grabs for the winner. The Richard Fahey runner Stormy Impact who has finished second of both his starts is currently the favourite at 2/1.
Lauren Keen-Hawkins the amateur jockey who sustained a head injury in a fall last Sunday has been moved out of intensive care, although still not fully regaining consciousness yet. Her boss Kim Bailey provided an update for everyone and mentioned she has a broken rib, but anything else is yet to be discovered until she comes round fully. She's been visited from assistant trainer Mat Nicholls and jockey David Bass and they mentioned was progress since the fall has been positive.
In the Paralympics they head to Day 9 and there are 57 gold medals up for grabs! Team GB will be hoping to continue their dominance in the Para-equestrian team test which takes place at 8:30, having won every gold since it was introduced into the games in 1996.
Last night in the cricket, Somerset were up against Northamptonshire Steelbacks and Tom Banton led the defending champions back to T20 Blast Finals Day as Somerset beat their opponents by 17 runs in their quarter-final at Wantage Road.
Why did an old man fall in a well?
Because he couldn't see that well!
Happy Friday!
