Plenty of Action!

Today there is jumps racing at Stratford while the flat dominates the rest of the Saturday action being at Haydock, Kempton, Ascot, Wolverhampton and Thirsk. In Ireland, they race on the flat at Navan. The stable have no runners today.

There's a lot of classy action today on the flat and Haydock is at the heart of it as the Betfair Sprint Stakes gives Britain's top chance for Group 1 glory, the race goes off at 3:35pm and it's an extremely competitive field with 16 runners. Kevin Ryan's runner Inisherin looked to be a sprinting superstar at Royal Ascot and could return to winning ways, although Elite Status for the Burke team is another formidable challenger unbeaten in both his starts this year. 

If you were watching ITV West Country yesterday early evening you would've seen Pond House make an appearance! National Racehorse Week begins next week and many yards up and down the country are opening their doors up for the general public. It's a great scheme that's been brought into racing and it really gives the public a chance to come and see behind the scenes and how brilliantly these animals are looked after. We are opening our doors on Sunday 15th September. 

Great Britain reached 100 medals at the Paris 2024 Paralympics, as wheelchair tennis player Alfie Hewitt and Gordon Reid completed a career 'Golden Slam' in the men's doubles to help the team surpass the number of golds achieved at the Tokyo games three years ago. In a total throughout the day Team GB won six golds among the 16 that were up for grabs and two days of the competition are still to go. 

In the cricket, England vs. Sri Lanka. Stand-in captain Ollie Pope answered his critics with a sparkling century on a truncated first day of England's third test against Sri Lanka at the Kia Oval. England who are 2-0 up, are looking for their second series of a clean sweep in succession and a first 100% home summer in 20 years.
