Micronormous runs today!
Today there is jumps racing tonight at Worcester and it's a busy day for the team as we have four runners heading there while on the flat, there are meetings are Carlisle and Lingfield. In Ireland, they race on the flat at Cork.
Our first runner of the evening is Oceanline, who runs in the 5:10pm Handicap Hurdle over over 2miles 4f with Jack Tudor in the saddle. He returns to a track we know he likes with both of his hurdle wins coming from here, including last time out. He's gone up six pounds since his win, but he's still well treated so hopefully won't be too far away.
Then we have Back In The Bay in the 5:40pm Mares' Maiden Hurdle over 2miles 4f with Jack Tudor riding. She makes her hurdling debut today, she's schooled well at home and will appreciate the step up in trip having shown form in her Irish point to point runs. Next up is Micronormous in the 6:10pm Maiden Hurdle over 2miles 7f with Jack Tudor riding. She returns after a year off the track having finished third on her last outing, she's in good form at home and it'll be good to see her back on the racecourse.
Finally we have Kintaro in the 7:10pm Conditional Jockeys' Handicap Hurdle over 2miles with Gearoid Harney riding. He's showed promise to be placed in his first two starts over hurdles and then did disappoint last time at Newton Abbot on handicap debut, but the ground was soft enough there and I think he'll appreciate going back to Worcester, where he has run well and he wears first time blinkers today.
News came yesterday that Sir Michael Stoute is to retire at the end of the flat season. He has trained numerous champions across his career and has been champion trainer on ten occasions between 1985 and 2022. As well as training, he has also helped shape some of the future careers of James Fanshawe and Owen Burrows and they are just a couple to mention.
Last night in the football, England played Finland in the UEFA Nations League and came out on top with a 2-0 victory. England captain Harry Kane, celebrated as he scored on his 100th appearance and received a golden cap before kick-off to mark the occasion and wore golden boots. They struggled to perform in the first half but soon took advantage when Finland became tired in the second half.
Why do cows have hooves and not feet?
They lactose!
