The wait is finally over and Chepstow is the jumps card to watch today with action from their season opener, on the flat there are meetings are Newmarket, York and Kempton. In Ireland, they race over both codes with the jumping action coming from Downpatrick and the flat meeting at Dundalk on the all weather.
It's a busy day for the stable today at Chepstow and to start us off we have two runners in the Welsh Jump Jockeys Derby. Pachacuti is the mount of Jack Tudor and Lady Balko will be ridden by Lorcan Williams. The race is run in aid of LATCH Wales, the Welsh children's cancer charity who supports the children and their families when they need it the most and I know it's a charity very close to Christian Williams and his family and what they've been through in recent times, to be able to support this in a small way like this race is a fantastic idea. Although only a bit of fun and for charity, the welsh jockeys are sure to be taking it seriously!
Besides the charity race we have 4 runners at Chepstow and lots of new equine faces making their debuts. First up we have Tuxedo Junction making his stable debut in the 1:35pm Novices' Hurdle over 2miles with Jack Tudor in the saddle, he has useful form on the flat and switches to hurdling today, he's a nice individual and has taken to jumping at home nicely so this looks to be a good starting for him. In the second division of the Novices' Hurdle in the 2:10pm we then have another stable debut in River Run Free with Jack Tudor riding. He's been placed in two Irish point to points last season and also looks like a very nice horse and we will certainly learn a lot more about the both of them today.
Missy Mole makes her stable debut in the 2:45pm Mares' Novices Hurdle over 2miles 3f and Jack Tudor riding. We bought her over the summer time and she has good form finishing second in a point to point last time out in April she's settled in well to life at Pond House and it's a good starting point for her today. Our last runner of the day is Lock Out who runs in the 5:30pm which is actually sponsored by us the Conditional Jockeys Handicap Chase over 2miles 7f with Gearoid Harney riding, he wasn't at his best last season, but probably ran better than his result shows. Has Irish point to point form and should like the ground!
We also head to the flat for Ocean Heights at Kempton who runs in the 7:15pm with Jason Watson riding. He likes the course and comes into this with a good run over hurdles and is good form at home, so he should hopefully go well here today returning to the flat.
Yesterday we had three runners at Exeter Kintaro never really got into the race but there will be plenty of other days for him, Stray Bullet wasn't overly fluent in his jumping and made a mistake at the 5th and lost his position so never really got back into the race, he did slip on the bend but he and Gearoid are all ok this morning. African Lady didn't have much luck never really got into it either and it's back to the drawing board!
