Lock Out wins at Chepstow!
Today the action at Chepstow continues for the second day of their season opener, with Hexham also providing a jumps card on the day. On the flat, action is at Newmarket, York and Chelmsford. In Ireland, they race over both codes with a jumps card at Fairyhouse and a flat card at Naas.
It was a busy day yesterday for the team, which started in two runners in the Welsh Jockeys Derby, which was won by our very own Pachacuti and Jack Tudor! Lady Balko also had a nice run round with Lorcan Williams and it’s great to be able to support the race in raising money for Latch the Children’s Welsh Cancer Charity. Tuxedo Junction was our first runner of the day, making his stable & hurdling debut for us. He was very keen from the get go, and I think that caught him out at the end, but it was a great start, he jumped well and he definitely looks to be capable of winning a few races in the future.
River Run Free was also making his debut for Pond House and got into a nice rhythm jumping and kept plugging on to the line, he looked to get a bit hampered on the home bend but he will certainly come on from the run and may even prefer softer conditions. Missy Mole was also another new face to the team and she ran a respectable race first time for us, she jumped well and got into a nice rhythm and she will improve with the run. Lock Out was our final runner at Chepstow and it was an excellent front running ride from Gearoid Harney to get his head in front, he jumped well throughout and looks to be a nice sort this winter. Ocean Heights ran at Kempton last night and returned to the flat after a good performance over hurdles last time, but just couldn't quite go with them last night, but he is a very versatile type who looks to have options over both codes.
Today we head back to Chepstow with three runners. American Sniper runs in the 3:20pm Silver Trophy Handicap Hurdle over 2miles 3½f with Jack Tudor in the saddle he comes back from a nice summers break and it does look a competitive field, but he does have winning form at the track. Neon Moon runs in the 4:35pm Handicap Chase over 2miles 7½f with Jack Tudor riding this also looks to be a fairly competitive field and he looks to have plenty to do today but he is in good form. Our last runner at Chepstow is Harry Junior who makes his racecourse debut in the 5:10pm Bumper over 2miles with Jack Tudor riding. He is a likeable sort at home and is closely related to the useful jumper Harry Senior and we will learn a bit more about him today.
We also head to Newmarket today with Bashful Boy running in the Cesarawitch at 3:40pm with Josephine Gordon in the saddle, he has not been in top form this summer but he ran in this race last year and finished 4th and I wouldn't be surprised if he ran a big race at a big price.

Have a great weekend!
