It's been an action packed weekend and today the jumping card comes from Plumpton, while on the flat meetings come from Pontefract and Bath. While Wolverhampton and Southwell provide the all-weather action. In Ireland, they race on the flat at Gowran Park. The stable have no runners today.
It was an exciting day on Saturday for young Sean D Bowen as he took the Champion Apprentice title, which went down to the wire with Joe Levey and it was a true battle. It ended with Sean getting a bit of a soaking in North Yorkshire after his fellow jockeys drenched him with buckets of water at Catterick. Back at Ascot Oisin Murphy became Champion Jockey once again and was presented with a trophy with all of his weighing room colleagues there to support him.
The pick of the action comes from Pontefract, which features the Listed Tankard Stakes at 3:15pm. Ascot maiden winner Calla Lagoo, Love Talk, Castle Stuart, Tuscan Hill and Basalt all take to the contest and with every single one of them winning their recent starts, it's set to be a competitive one!
A remarkable performance at Sedgefield yesterday in the Durham National from the winner of the race Jesuitique. Winning a year after suffering a life-threatening injury in the same race, he finished third in the race from last years running and the winner at the time Tommie Beau, this time around the placings were swapped as Tommie Beau finished third this year. It's a remarkable recovery as Jesuitique fractured his fetlock really badly and the Newland/Insole joint partnership have done well to get him back and it's lovely when things like this do work out.
Plenty of football happened over the weekend and Man-U came from behind to secure a crucial victory over Brentford 2-1. While Arsenal's unbeaten start came to an end when AFC Bournemouth won their game 2-0. On Sunday, Liverpool returned to the top of the Premier League after their victory against Chelsea 2-1 and Man City kept on top in their game vs. Wolverhampton 2-1. Tonight sees the game of Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace who kick off at 8pm.
Why did the spoon quit his job?
He was going stir-crazy!
