Quiet Mid-Week

Worcester was abandoned at the end of last week due to the river bursting its bank next to them, but there is still jumping action to come from Fontwell and Southwell who provided an extra card for today. While the flat action comes from Newmarket and Kempton and in Ireland, they race on the flat at Navan. The stable have no runners today with our next possible runners not until the end of the week.

Yesterday we had two runners at one of our more local tracks Exeter, which were Kepagge and Mr Tambourine Man who both ran in the same race. Mr Tambourine Man never looked to be travelling as well as he can and didn't look to be a going day for him! It was first time back from a summers break for Kepagge, so he will be sure to improve from the run and is probably best at a slightly shorter trip. 

The seven-race card at Newmarket is one that has previously produced high-class winners and is headline by the 1m 2f Handicap at 3:30pm and just the 6 runners for the race. Watching Stars who was a last time out winner, is one looking to take his chances for the Charlie Appleby yard in the popular blue Godolphin silks. 

The retirement party for the oldest professional jockey in Britain, Jimmy Quinn was put on hold until the final day of the turf season; despite having a winner, which he said, would be his last. Jimmy who is 57 had mentioned he was desperate to ride a winner before he retired and his weighing room colleagues were all ready to send him off after he rode Lost In Time to victory but he's now decided he will ride until 9th November. 

Last night in the UEFA Champions League Arsenal were back to winning ways after what they hope was a blip against Bournemouth after a 1-0 result vs. Shakhtar Donetsk. Real Madrid also provided a brilliant second half to come out on top of Borussia Dortmund 5-2. Tonight, Barcelona vs. Bayern Munich kicks off at 8pm alongside Liverpool vs. RB Leipzig and Manchester City vs. Sparta Prague. 

I can never take my dog to the park because the ducks keep trying to bite him. 
I guess that's what I get buying a pure bread dog!
