King Turgeon after winning the Grand Sefton!
It was an action packed weekend but it's the start of a new week and the jumps action comes from Kempton and Carlisle, with the flat fixtures coming from Wolverhampton and Newcastle who both have all-weather action. There is no racing in Ireland today.
We head to Kempton today with just the one runner and that is Steppenwolf who runs in the 1:15pm Novices' Handicap Chase over 2miles 4½f with Jack Tudor on board. He won over fences at Ffos Las on his stable debut, he returns here today after a wind op and is in good form at home.
It was a busy weekend for the stable and Saturday was a really special day as King Turgeon jumped his way to win the Grand Sefton at Aintree after his first try at the national fences. It was another bold performance of jumping and it was such a joy to watch! It was the highs and lows as Remastered was going well and running a huge race at Wincanton in the Badger Beer until falling 4 out, but thankfully he and Tom Bellamy were all ok which is the most important thing of it all. The Wincanton meeting was hugely dominated by the Paul Nicholls yard with 5 winners on the day, which I'm sure they would have been thrilled about as the yard was all the talk as to be out of form at the moment, but it looks as if they've now got the ball rolling for the season.
Yesterday we sent four runners to Ffos Las, which did actually end up in three as Doors Breaker was a non runner. Gold In The Rivers ran well on his stable debut and looks like he will improve from the run, Shot Boii had his return run after a break and he didn't really look happy throughout, he would appreciate a little softer surface next time. Chauffeur Driven ran disappointing on his seasonal comeback, we know he goes better than this at home, hopefully a reason will come to light and he can go better next time.
Yesterday in the Premier League action Man-U 3-0 Leicester City, Nottingham Forest 1-3 Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur 1-2 Ipswich Town, Chelsea 1-1 Arsenal.
What month is the shortest of the year?
May, it only has three letters!
Happy Monday!
