Micronormous after her win
The temperatures have certainly dropped and the racing today comes from Ffos Las and Warwick which passed their inspection at 7am this morning. Hexham was due to also hold a jumps card but was abandoned due to frozen ground. The flat card comes from Kempton, while in Ireland there is all-weather action at Dundalk.
Today we have two runners and two meetings. Harry Junior runs at Ffos Las in the 12:15pm Maiden Hurdle over 1mile 7f with Jack Tudor in the saddle. He ran with promise at Chepstow in a bumper, he has come on lots for that experience and we have done plenty of schooling with him at home. At Warwick, we have Jilaijone who runs in the 1:00pm Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle over 2miles 3f with Gearoid Harney riding. His second place last time out at Fontwell is now looking good after the winner followed up at Cheltenham the other day. With Gearoid taking a handy six pounds off him, he should run well and appreciate the softer going.
Yesterday at Fakenham, Micronormous put in an excellent performance to get off the mark on her first start over fences under rules and it was a good ride from Jack Tudor; she kept on galloping all the way to the line and won nicely in the end and her win resulted into us having our 30th winner of the season so far! It wasn't the day for Dindin as he looked to be going nicely in the first part of the race but he didn't quite jump as fluently as he normally does and he just couldn't quicken with them, but there will be plenty of other days in him I'm sure.
Lots of interest came from Constitution Hill’s gallop round Newbury with Sir Gino yesterday after it had been reported that he had drifted in the betting for the Fighting Fifth. Nicky had mentioned that he had a good blow after the gallop and he would have needed it but was pleased overall with what he saw and Nico De Boinville mentioned that all of the ability is still there so it'll be great to see him back in action next weekend.
I told my doctor that I had broken my arm in two places - he told me to stop going to those places!
Have a great Wednesday!
