Action Packed Friday

The jumps action gets underway with lots to look forward to, the first day of Newbury's Coral Gold Cup meeting starts today with other cards coming from Doncaster and Musselburgh. In Ireland, they race over both codes with the jumps action coming from Thurles and the all-weather action at Dundalk. No runners for the team as Itseemslikeit is a non-runner at Doncaster. 

Yesterday at Taunton, Chauffeur Driven looked to travel and jump well and just kept plugging on all the way to the line, it was a step in the right direction and he may benefit from a more galloping track. Kintaro and Gearoid are thankfully both all ok after their fall at the second last which the in the most important thing but going forwards, he looks like maybe a step up in trip would suit him.

Skin Full put up a much better performance on his switch to fences, travelled much better throughout and took to the fences nicely, he will improve further from this.  At Lingfield, Vision De Maine travelled and jumped well and just bumped into another nice horse this time, but they both pulled clear from the rest of them and he kept staying on to the line. He just keeps improving each time. 

There is some classy horses appearing at Newbury today but even more so an interesting day as Regent’s Stroll runs for the Nicholls team who has gained himself a flashy background from the Chris Giles dispersal sale, where he was bought back by Paul Nicholls for £660,000 which recorded the most expensive jumps sale in Britain. He runs in the Maiden Hurdle at 12:15pm. Captain Teague also makes an appearance today in the Novices' Chase at 1:55pm after his "Walk Over win" at Exeter. 

Amateur Jockey, David Maxwell rode out his claim yesterday at Taunton, after he said what felt like something he would never do but mentioned he has no immediate plans to stop his career there. He started out after having a few point to point winners and continues to ride his own horses under rules and he said the obsession has just grown massively and nobody has ever told him to stop! It's a great achievement.
