Remastered runs in the Coral Gold Cup today
The action continues at Newbury today with the Coral Gold Cup featuring the card, Newcastle also hosts a nice card with the fighting fifth scheduled and Doncaster rounds up the jumps action in Britain as Bangor-On-Dee was abandoned earlier this week. In Ireland, they race over the jumps at Fairyhouse.
It was a quiet day for the stable yesterday but we are back with three runners in total today. At Newbury, Walkadina runs in the 12:07pm Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle over 2miles 1/2f with Jack Tudor riding. She was impressive last time out when winning at Uttoxeter on hurdling debut and she travelled and jumped perfectly, the horse who finished second to her has gone and won since and she's in great form at home.
Remastered runs in the Coral Gold Cup at 3:00pm over 3miles 2f with Jack Tudor. He's run in this race a few times and he's bounced back to form this season. He was an unlucky faller when going well at Wincanton, conditions will suit him and he deserves to take his chance. Neon Moon made the trip up to Newcastle yesterday and he runs in the Rehearsal Chase at 3:20pm over 2miles 7½f with Conor O’Farrell riding. He put up a career best performance last time out at Ascot. The ground will suit him he is in good form at home and he is capable of running another nice race here today.
The fighting fifth takes place at Newcastle today, which was supposed to have the seasonal reappearance from Constitution Hill, but he was ruled out of the race last week due to lameness. In his place, Sir Gino will be representing the Seven Barrows team and is a more than able replacement. Willie Mullins is looking to win his first fighting fifth with Mystical Power and this will be his first representative in the race since 2015, it'll be interesting to see how the race works out.
Yesterday at Newbury, Regent’s Stroll put up an impressive performance in the opening race on the card to win by just under 10 lengths albeit having jumped the second last a bit untidy, he certainly looked to have plenty left and it takes a nice horse to be able to correct themselves and go onto win. Kalif Du Berlais put in a nice performance to win and provided the owners with a double on the day. Other smart performances came from the Ben Pauling trained The Jukebox Man who the stable believe could be the new flagship bearer for the season. Olly Murphy looks to be setting his sights high also after Strong Leader put in a successful reappearance in the Coral Long Distance Hurdle and has mentioned future targets could involve the Stayers' Hurdle at Cheltenham.
