Chemical Warfare Wins for Sixth Time

There are two jumps meetings today at Southwell and Plumpton and we have one runner at the latter, Lady Balko.  She returns to the track she won at two weeks ago and we are hoping for a repeat performance.  That was her first win over fences, after three wins over hurdles last season and fingers crossed she can follow up.  The handicapper has put her up nine pounds for that win to a mark a 122 so she requires a career best performance but she is in good form at home and should go well.

There is an all-weather meeting at Wolverhampton which gets underway at 4.30pm today while in Ireland they race over jumps at Naas.

Chemical Warfare won for the sixth time since joining Pond House at Newcastle on Saturday and what a little star he has been.  That is six wins from eleven starts for us and I think there is still more to come.  We adopted a slight change of tactics this time, leading from the start and he seemed to really enjoy himself and went round with his ears pricked the whole way.  He jumped well bar one mistake, quickened the pace turning for home and galloped on resolutely to the line.  He is a thoroughly likeable character and I am sure he can keep progressing.

Yesterday at Carlisle, Gold in the Rivers was a little keen for his own good in the early stages and travelled strongly and jumped well.  He got tired approaching the last but plugged on for fourth and gets an automatic qualifying place in the Pertemps Final at the Cheltenham Festival providing he is in the handicap.  This was a step up on his stable debut and there is plenty more to come from him.  Kolisi travelled and jumped well but was ultimately disappointing.  He perhaps didn't stay the 2m4f on softer ground than ideal but he is yet top re-capture his form of old on his returned from an injury enforced break.

There is one Premier League football match this evening with Bournemouth at home to West Ham at 8pm.  Over the weekend, there were a couple of surprise results on Saturday with Arsenal being held to a 0-0 draw at home to Everton and Liverpool also being held at home, 2-2 against Fulham.  That leaves Arsenal still six points behind leaders Liverpool and they have played a game more and Chelsea are now in second place, two points behind the leaders but also having played a game more.  Yesterday the Manchester Derby lacked it's usual quality but it was a good result for my team, United!  They were 1-0 with not many minutes left to play and a penalty from Bruno Fernandes levelled the game before an amazing equaliser from player of the match, Amad Dialo.  Chelsea were 2-1 at home to Brentford while Spurs beat Southampton 5-0.

My friend claims that he “accidentally” glued himself to his autobiography, but I don’t believe him.

But that’s his story and he is sticking to it!

Happy Monday
