Windbeneathmywings wins at Ascot!
It's the last Saturday before Christmas and the jumps racing comes from Haydock, Hereford and Ascot with the all-weather action coming from Wolverhampton and Newcastle. In Ireland, they race over jumps at Thurles.
Yesterday Windbeneathmywings provided us with a very spectacular performance to win the bumper at Ascot. It was a lovely front running ride from Jack and we always held him in high regard at home, but we did not quite expect that! It was a very strong looking bumper on paper with the majority of the runners having a win next to their name and it's just exciting to have a horse like this at Pond House - who knows what the future holds.
Royal Mer runs at Haydock in the 1:30pm Handicap Chase over 2miles with Jack Tudor on board he is dropped back to 2miles today and the ground will suit, the softer the better for him and he's in good form at home. Lady Balko runs at Hereford in the 1:38pm Mares’ Handicap Chase over 3miles 1f with Gearoid Harney riding, she comes here after winning her last two runs over fences and she bids for the hat-trick today she carries a penalty from winning on Monday so Gearoid with his claim will help today and she looks like she has plenty more improvement in her.
Jilaijone is our last runner of the afternoon and runs at Haydock in the 2:40pm Handicap Hurdle over 1miles 7½f with Jack Tudor on board he's been running consistently but just seems to be bumping into one at the moment! He has form on heavy ground, so conditions won't be a problem and hopefully his luck can change today.
It was an action packed card at Ascot yesterday with an incredible sit from Ben Jones aboard Personal Ambition after his blunder at the final-fence. The horse finished second in the end, but Ben did an incredible job to keep the partnership together! Young Freddie Gordon, completed a 63-1 double on the card when riding for his boss Nicky Henderson and a winner for his father Chris Gordon, he's a jockey to keep looking out for.
Last night at the London International horse show, the jockeys provided their annual entertainment when competing in the show jumping. It's always good fun to watch and this year certainly provided the entertainment with 90% of them knocking the poles down! It was great to see James Bowen did not forget the course as he had never done something like this before! It was Harry Skelton's team who won but it's great to have them all taking part for such a great cause.
Away from the racing, there is plenty of football action coming from the Premier League. Aston Villa vs. Manchester City who start the day off at 12:30pm while, Brentford vs. Nottingham Forest, Ipswich vs. Newcastle and West-Ham vs. Brighton all kicking off at 3pm. The latter game of the day comes from Crystal Palace vs. Arsenal at 5:30pm.
What's black and white and goes round and round?
A penguin in the washing machine!
Have a great weekend!
