The all-weather continues to dominate the racing action as Doncaster and Huntingdon are both abandoned. The flat cards comes from Lingfield who is looking pass a second inspection later on and Newcastle, there is all-weather racing in Ireland also, which comes from Dundalk. The Saturday is still fairly unclear as Kempton set to have a 11:30am inspection today.
Looking into the weekend action, Kempton is the only original meeting to plan to go ahead, with Warwick being abandoned yesterday and Wetherby also abandoned. Ffos Las has been a back up card added to ensure there is hopefully some action that can go ahead! One person who will be hoping Kempton gets the go ahead is Nicky Henderson as he saddles Lulamba in the first race on the card. The horse was placed in the Triumph Hurdle betting for the festival and within the last few days his price has collapsed so it'll be interesting to see his debut!
Leading Cheltenham Festival fancy, Maughreen will be ready to return to action shortly, despite last being seen on the track 12 months ago and having never jumped a hurdle in public, she holds clear favourite in the Grade 2 Mares' Novices' Hurdle. The Willie Mullins team have said to have done plenty of schooling with her and I'm sure she'll be watched closely when she does make her hurdling debut!
Flat Jockey, Paul Mulrennan's last two visits to Newcastle have resulted in six winners and at the moment especially he looks to be a jockey to be looking out for. Heading towards his 26th year in the saddle, he seems to get better every time and accumulated 107 winners in Britain last year. He has three rides today on the card, Jems Bond his first mount of the day could be his best chance as the horse has 5 wins from 34 runs at the track.
I used to have an addiction to the hokey pokey, but then I turned myself around!
Happy Friday!
