Royal Mer Runs at Uttoxeter
It’s the weekend and there is plenty of action going ahead today the jumps cards come from Cheltenham, Doncaster and Uttoxeter. The all-weather action comes from Newcastle and Wolverhampton. There is racing back in Ireland with a jumps card from Fairyhouse.
Today we are back racing with 5 runners coming from Doncaster and Uttoxeter. At Doncaster we head there with just Belfrina who runs in the 12:20pm Fillies’ Juvenile Hurdle over 2miles. She fell at the last flight here last time out when looking the likely winner and hopefully, she can gain deserved compensation this time around. Jack Tudor rides.
At Uttoxeter we head there with four runners and Fergus Gillard rides all of them. First up is Saccary who runs in the 1:22pm Maiden Hurdle over 1mile 7f. He made his hurdling debut and jumped well enough at Taunton and he will have improved for the experience.
Jilaijone runs in the 2:32pm Handicap Hurdle over 2miles 3f, he ran a solid race last time out to be fourth and he’s in good form at home. He is very consistent and deserves to get his head in front. Royal Mer runs in the 3:07pm Handicap Chase over 2miles 4f. He has not quite rejuvenated his form from last season but he has form on good to soft ground. Fergus Gillard rides all four of our runners at Uttoxeter and it is nice to renew our association with him.
Toronet completes the runners at Uttoxeter and runs in the 4:20pm Handicap Hurdle over 2miles 3f. He was making his debut for Pond House and he travelled and jumped well throughout but just could not quite go with the rest in the closing stages last time at Exeter, he returns to hurdles today and needs to improve on recent runs but he does have ability and is becoming more well treated.
Constitution Hill will be the star attraction at Cheltenham on Trials day as he returns to scene to run in the Grade 2 Unibet Hurdle following his success at Kempton on Boxing Day. The stable have mentioned he will have improved loads from the run, so it’ll be exciting as always to see him again!
What's the difference in an alligator and a crocodile? You’ll see one later and one in a while!
Have a great weekend!
