King Turgeon has a Grand National Entry
It is a quiet day on the racing front with both intended jumps fixtures falling foul of the recent wet weather and been abandoned. There should have been action over the sticks at both Exeter and Leicester this afternoon but both meetings were called off before race day due to waterlogging. This leaves us with just two flat all-weather meetings at Kempton and Dundalk. Wincanton must pass a check this morning to see if racing can go ahead there this morning so fingers crossed it does or it wil b another day in Britain without any jumping.
I am not surprised however, meetings have been lost with all the recent rain. We have been quite lucky here at Pond House and while our wood chip gallop copes better than the sand when conditions are very wet, we have been able to continue pretty much as normal. I read that Paul Nicholls has had trouble with flooding with his circular gallop which is under water but his hill gallop is okay. I am sure there are other trainers who have had similar problems.
The entries for the 2025 Aintree Randox Grand National closed yesterday. Last year's winner, I am Maximus heads the 90 entries with a significant drop in the number of Irish trained entries. There are 48 Irish trained entries (down from 61 last year), but last year Gordon Elliott had 26 entries while this year he has 16. I am Maximus is one of ten entries for Willie Mullins and he heads the early betting at 10/1. We have two entries in the big race, King Turgeon and Gericault Roque. Both our horses will probably need to go up in the handicap a little to get in the race but the weights will be revealed next month and we will see what happens!
It is a big evening of Champions League football action tonight with 18 matches kicking off at 8pm and Aston Villa, Arsenal, Manchester City and Liverpool are all in action. It is a big night for Manchester City, after losing last week they are in danger of being eliminated from the competition. Liverpool are through while Arsenal are nearly through while there is still hope for Aston Villa. 36 teams play this evening while 25 only make it through to the next stage. It is the first year of a new format for the Champions League and it certainly promises to be a dramatic evening ahead.
A shout out to the guy who played the triangle with our and for the last few years...
Thanks for every ting!
Have a good day!
